Two Japanese Exchange Students Drown at Eagle Falls

Hiroya Konosu, 21, and Takayuki Suzuki, 34, were identified as the deceased by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The incident took place at Eagle Falls, a location that has seen a surge in popularity due to viral videos on TikTok, leading to increased drowning incidents.
Authorities reported that the victims were part of a four-person group visiting the falls, which are known for their dangerous rapids and narrow chutes.
First responders have repeatedly urged visitors to admire the scenic but perilous falls from a safe distance, away from the water.
The local fire chief highlighted the falls' beauty but warned of the inherent risks, noting that the area has become a hotspot for fatal drownings.
