Two Injured in Petrol Bomb Attack at Armagh Bar as 38-Year-Old Held

Police say patrons were threatened with a knife as they fled the blaze.

  • Police reported a petrol bomb was thrown into a bar on Irish Street at about 8:55 p.m. Monday, and firefighters quickly put out the fire.
  • Two men, one in his 30s and one in his 60s, were treated in hospital for burns, and one has since been discharged.
  • A 38-year-old suspect remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder, arson with intent to endanger life, and possessing a blade or point in a public place.
  • Detectives are also examining suspected linked criminal damage after windows were reported smashed at homes on Keady Road and Cregagh Gardens earlier that evening.
  • Investigators appealed for witnesses and any footage from 7–9 p.m., and local MP Daire Hughes condemned the attack and praised emergency responders.
