Two Held in Pretrial Custody for Milan Tram Assault on Visually Impaired Man

Investigators linked the August tram attack to two suspects who were already jailed on a separate case.

Overview

  • Police, coordinated by Milan prosecutors, executed a custody order on September 24 for aggravated robbery in concorso.
  • The suspects, Moroccan men aged 29 and 42 with prior convictions, were notified of the measure in Milan’s Francesco di Cataldo prison.
  • They had been arrested on August 15 for resisting police after fleeing on a stolen scooter and assaulting officers.
  • The assault occurred on August 12 on tram 15 in via dei Missaglia near the Missaglia–Feraboli stop, where the 55-year-old victim was beaten and thrown off the vehicle.
  • Assailants stole two bags with lenses and video magnifiers worth about €2,000; the victim was treated at Humanitas Rozzano and later said no one intervened as one attacker told him, “Zio, dammi la mano.”
