Two Head-On Crashes in Northern Italy Kill Four Within Hours

Authorities are probing the crash dynamics after two overnight head-on collisions in northern Italy.

Overview

  • On the statale Adriatica between Ferrara and Argenta around 7:30 a.m., a Fiat Panda driven by a woman identified by local media as Eleonora Verri collided with a Ford Fiesta carrying four youths, killing the woman and two young people.
  • The Adriatica was closed in both directions near kilometer 91.55–92 with traffic diverted as 118 ambulances, an automedical unit, a helicopter, local police, Portomaggiore firefighters and Anas teams responded.
  • Around 2:30 a.m. in Bolgare in the Bergamo area, two cars crashed head‑on on the provinciale 91 bis, and a 23‑year‑old woman later died in hospital.
  • In the Bergamo case, five people aged 20 to 29 were involved, the two drivers were taken in critical condition to Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital and other passengers sustained minor injuries.
  • Police are reviewing the exact dynamics in both crashes, with preliminary reports indicating the Bergamo impact may have occurred as a Mercedes attempted an overtaking maneuver.
