Overview

  • Both Emma Watson and Zoe Wanamaker were fined £1,044 and handed six-month driving disqualifications by High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on July 16, 2025.
  • Watson was caught speeding at 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford on July 31, 2024, bringing her total to 12 penalty points and triggering the ban.
  • Wanamaker received the same penalty after being recorded at 46 mph in a 40 mph zone on the M4 motorway, also accumulating 12 points.
  • Watson did not attend the brief hearing as she continues her master’s studies in creative writing at the University of Oxford, with her lawyer confirming her ability to pay the fine.
  • Under UK law, reaching 12 points within three years leads to an automatic minimum six-month driving ban to enforce road-safety standards uniformly.
