Two Ghatkopar Blast Victims Shifted to Kasturba for Advanced Burn Care

The blast was the city's second gas-cylinder incident within a week.

Overview

  • Ghanshyam Yadav, 36, and Devendra Pal, 26, who sustained 60–70% burns, were moved from Rajawadi Hospital to Kasturba Hospital, which has the civic system’s dedicated burns ward.
  • The LPG cylinder exploded around 9:11 pm Tuesday in a temporary worker shed at an under-construction seven-storey building near Vidyaniketan College in Ghatkopar East.
  • Police said the workers were preparing dinner when a gas leak led to the blast, and doctors at Kasturba said it is too early to offer a prognosis.
  • Mahendra Choudhari, 32, and Sandeep Pal, 20, suffered lesser burns and remain under treatment at Rajawadi Hospital.
  • Last week’s Kandivali cylinder blast injured seven, and six women later died during treatment.
