Two Fatal Incidents Reported in Central Japan After Separate 110 Calls

Police confirmed two deaths as inquiries continue into identification and causes.

  • In Nagoya’s Nakagawa Ward, a passerby phoned 110 around 7:10 p.m. on Sept. 22 to report a person being swept in the Shinkawa river.
  • Fire crews retrieved the individual about 15 minutes later and transported the person to a hospital, where death was confirmed.
  • Police said the Nagoya victim may have been an elderly woman, with formal identification and cause of death pending.
  • At about 12:10 a.m. on Sept. 23 in Gifu City near the Iwato Tunnel’s south exit, a fallen large motorcycle was reported on fire via a 110 call.
  • A man from Ichinomiya was found at the Gifu scene and later confirmed dead, with accident circumstances under investigation by Gifu Central Police.
