Two Fatal Crashes Hours Apart Shut Roads in Germany

Police opened separate investigations using traffic specialists to determine the causes.

  • A 27-year-old driving a Renault died after his car moved into the opposite lane and hit a Hyundai head-on between Illingen and Ensingen around 7:50 a.m.
  • The Hyundai’s 45-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital, and both vehicles incurred about €50,000 in total damage.
  • Emergency services in Illingen included fire crews with five vehicles, ambulance teams, police and an air rescue helicopter, and an independent expert was appointed.
  • Around 11:00 a.m. on the B 100 near Plodda and Schlaitz, a 66-year-old motorcyclist and his 53-year-old passenger died after colliding with a VW as it attempted a left turn toward Pouch.
  • Both routes were closed for several hours during recovery, and the Zentrale Verkehrs- und Autobahndienst is handling the B 100 case as inquiries continue.
