Two Fatal BEST Bus Accidents in Mumbai Within a Week Raise Safety Concerns

A 25-year-old motorist was killed in a late-night crash, days after a separate accident left seven dead and over 40 injured.

A 25-year-old man, Dikshit Vinod Rajput, died after being struck by a BEST electric bus in Mumbai's Govandi area late Saturday night.
The driver of the bus involved in the Govandi accident, Vinod Aabaji Rankhambe, is currently on the run.
This incident follows a deadly crash earlier in the week in Kurla, where a BEST bus lost control, killing seven people and injuring over 40 others.
Investigations into the Kurla accident revealed the driver lacked sufficient training to operate electric buses and mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.
The two incidents have intensified scrutiny over the safety protocols and training standards for wet-lease electric buses operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST).
