Overview
- Two women, identified as Manisha (45) and Vimlesh (43), were struck and fatally injured while crossing an intersection near the UPSIDA cut in Kasna on Tuesday as they returned home from work.
- Passersby called the 112 emergency helpline and police took the injured women to a nearby hospital where doctors declared them dead and their bodies were sent for postmortem.
- Police traced and seized the truck a few kilometres from the scene and arrested the driver, described by authorities as about 25 years old and a Haryana resident who fled toward Sirsa after the crash.
- The driver has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving and causing death by negligence and a case was registered following a written complaint by the victims’ family; investigations are ongoing.
- Both victims worked in the Kasna industrial area and commuted on foot, a fact that highlights pedestrian safety concerns at industrial intersections and could prompt review of crossing and transport safeguards.
