Two Expelled Black Democrats Reinstated, Stand Together Against the Silencing of Gun Reform in Tennessee

Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were expelled from the Tennessee House of Representatives for demanding gun control legislation after a Nashville school shooting killed six.
The legislators have now been reinstated after unanimous votes by local governing bodies but still face an uphill battle in the Republican-dominated statehouse.
Jones and Pearson, young Black lawmakers, said their expulsion was a racially biased attempt to silence debate around gun violence that is disproportionately impacting Black communities.
Democrats nationwide have rallied around the "Tennessee Three," accusing Republican legislators of undermining democracy and refusing to take action as mass shootings continue to devastate communities across America.
Jones and Pearson plan to run in special elections to win back their seats and continue the fight for comprehensive gun reform in their state.
