Overview
- Two bison broke through a farm fence Monday morning at around 10:30 a.m., prompting York Regional Police to shut down Keele Street and Davis Drive in King, Ontario.
- Officers issued social media alerts warning residents and drivers to avoid the area and stay clear of the loose bison.
- Most of the bison were rounded up within an hour, allowing the roads to reopen shortly after 11:30 a.m.
- By 12:40 p.m. the last animal was secured and all escaped bison were returned unharmed to their enclosure.
- Farm owner Garrett Mac Sweeney said the bison were in mating season and tend to become more aggressive at that time.
