Two Drivers Cited as Krasnodar Ban on EVs Crossing the Crimean Bridge Takes Effect
Regional police say the restriction follows anti-terror recommendations after a foiled car-bomb plot.
Overview
- The order, signed by Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev, has barred electric and hybrid vehicles from entering the bridge from the region since November 3.
- Traffic police recorded two violations between November 3 and 7 and charged the drivers under Part 1 of Article 12.16, which carries a warning or a fine.
- Passenger cars, minibuses and buses continue to use the crossing, while freight is directed through other corridors or the Kerch ferry.
- Officials released an alternative overland route from Taganrog to Dzhankoy with listed charging points, including Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Mariupol, Melitopol, Henichesk and Dzhankoy.
- Authorities cite security concerns referenced by the FSB, which in August reported thwarting a Chevrolet Volt–based bombing attempt and detaining those involved.
