Overview

• The pursuit began around 9:30 a.m. in Fontana after an officer found the truck’s license plate did not match the vehicle.
• The big rig traveled on the 60 and 57 freeways and through Brea, Fullerton and Garden Grove, stopping briefly several times before continuing.
• A passenger reportedly tried calling 911 saying he was not being allowed to exit, and a separate caller identifying herself as his daughter relayed the same claim.
• An armored BearCat broadsided the truck and, along with several unmarked vehicles, boxed it in at Beach Boulevard and Franklin Street in Buena Park just after 11 a.m.
• Two men exited the cab and were taken into custody as investigators work to confirm whether the vehicle was stolen, whether the passenger was being held, and which agency deployed the BearCat.
