Overview
- Preliminary reports indicate departing Endeavor Air Flight 5155’s right wing struck the nose and cockpit windscreens of arriving Flight 5047 on Taxiway M around 9:56–9:58 p.m.
- One flight attendant sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, and no passenger injuries were reported by Delta or the Port Authority.
- Photos and video show significant structural damage, including a shattered cockpit windscreen and a torn wing section, and both CRJ-900s were taken out of service.
- Passengers from both flights were deplaned on the taxiway, bused to the terminal, provided meals and hotel rooms, and rebooked; broader airport operations were unaffected.
- The FAA, NTSB and Port Authority opened investigations, and the FAA said the Virginia-bound aircraft had been instructed to hold short and yield before the contact.
