Two Delta Connection Jets Collide While Taxiing at LaGuardia as FAA Opens Investigation

The FAA has opened an inquiry into the taxi collision that injured a flight attendant.

  • Two Endeavor Air–operated Delta Connection CRJ-900s made contact on a LaGuardia taxiway around 9:56 p.m. ET Wednesday.
  • Flight 5155, preparing to depart for Roanoke, struck the fuselage and nose of arriving Flight 5047 from Charlotte, shearing part of a wing.
  • One flight attendant sustained a minor injury and was taken to a hospital, and authorities reported no passenger injuries.
  • The Port Authority said airport operations were unaffected as passengers were bused to the terminal and offered rebooking and hotel accommodations.
  • The FAA opened an investigation with no cause determined yet, and widely shared video and ATC audio are among materials under review as Delta cooperates.
