Overview
- A 33-year-old man died when a detached trailer struck his four-wheel drive on the Newell Highway at Tomingley about 6:30pm Friday.
- Police say the trailer came off a ute traveling in the opposite direction, and the 34-year-old ute driver underwent mandatory testing before being released.
- The Newell Highway was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency services responded and investigators examined the scene.
- Earlier at about 5:00pm, a 57-year-old woman died after her car left the road and crashed into bushland on Premer Road at Tambar Springs.
- Specialist officers have been called in, a crime scene has been established, a report will be prepared for the coroner, and police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
