Two Dead in Separate Apartment Fires in L'Hospitalet and Constantí

Authorities have opened investigations into both fires following overnight rescues.

Overview

  • Bombers de la Generalitat confirmed the deaths of a 77-year-old man in L'Hospitalet and a 54-year-old man in Constantí after late-night apartment fires.
  • In L'Hospitalet, eight firefighting units with 14 personnel extinguished a fifth-floor blaze and located the older victim after searching the affected flat.
  • In Constantí, 10 units with 28 firefighters tackled a fourth-floor fire that spread up the façade and carried out façade and aerial-ladder rescues of four residents.
  • SEM treated eight people in L'Hospitalet, with one taken in mild condition to Hospital Bellvitge, and attended four in Constantí, two transported in mild condition to Hospital Joan XXIII.
  • Municipal teams assessed building safety and arranged temporary rehousing where needed, and a separate non-fatal fire in Castelldefels saw occupants assisted and one family rehoused.
