Overview

• State highway patrol officers were attempting to stop another vehicle when a stolen white Holden Cruise sped past on Diggers Rest–Coimadai Road just before 10am Sunday.
• Police say the Holden crossed into the opposite lane and struck an oncoming car, with both drivers dying at the scene.
• A male passenger in his 30s from the Holden sustained upper-body injuries and was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
• A vehicle check confirmed the Holden had been stolen from Werribee South on Saturday after 4.30pm.
• Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are examining the crash, the road was closed for hours between Ryans Lane and Holden Road, and Victoria’s provisional road toll has risen to 188.
