Two Dead, 14 Injured in Pre-Dawn Bus–Lorry Collision on Mysuru–Hunsur Highway

Police have opened a case as investigators examine conflicting accounts of how the pre-dawn crash occurred.

Overview

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. near Madhugiri Koppalu Gate on the Hunsur–Bannikuppe stretch of the highway.
A Kerala-based coach traveling from Kozhikode to Bengaluru collided head-on with a cement-laden lorry heading from Mysuru toward Hunsur.
Bus driver Shamshuddin and cleaner Dinesh died at the scene, and 14 passengers were taken to nearby facilities and Mysuru’s K.R. Hospital for treatment.
Preliminary accounts cite a lorry swerve to avoid a fallen tree and poor visibility, while injured passengers allege the bus was speeding and made a sudden right maneuver.
Hunsur police led rescue and clearance, reopened traffic by 8 a.m., and registered a case at Bilikere Police Station as the investigation continues.
