Two Days of Crashes Across Brazil Kill Multiple People and Injure Many

  • Police report a string of independent collisions across multiple states between November 24 and 25, many involving trucks, carretas and buses, leaving several dead and numerous people hospitalized.
  • In Paraná, the PRF said a pothole is a working hypothesis in a crash on BR-369 that killed a 42-year-old father; a four-year-old was airlifted with serious injuries and the truck driver’s breathalyzer test was negative.
  • In Pernambuco, a runaway carreta struck a bus on BR-232 in Moreno, the bus toppled, and 16 people were treated; both drivers tested negative for alcohol and traffic later flowed normally.
  • In Mato Grosso, a collision between a truck and a carreta on BR-163 in Sorriso fatally struck a car driver, with Politec performing pericial work and the highway briefly closed for the investigation.
  • In Paraíba, a rear-end crash between two cement trucks on BR-230 in Santa Rita left one driver trapped and in surgery with leg fractures, while in Espírito Santo a road dispute escalated to a fatal shooting now under police investigation with no arrests reported.
