  • State Police chief David Cristóbal “Nitro” and Municipal Police commander Ricardo Heleno Sánchez Quintero were ambushed and killed in separate July 15–16 attacks in Culiacán.
  • On July 16, federal troops in Aguililla engaged suspected CJNG gunmen, killing two and seizing cartel-branded vehicles and high-powered weapons.
