Overview
- MSC Seaview and Costa Diadema berthed at the Terminal Portuário de Outeiro on November 4–5 to serve as floating hotels during COP30 from November 10–21.
- Federal Police began two days of immigration checks, processing about 1,344 crew and 31 passengers on the Seaview and 1,117 crew and 34 passengers on the Diadema.
- The ships offer roughly 3,900 cabins and up to 6,000 beds, with 1,700 berths already reserved according to the federal government.
- Accommodation allocation will be mediated by the UNFCCC with initial priority to 73 countries and a nightly rate capped at up to US$200; Embratur selected Qualitours via a public call to operate and commercialize the cabins.
- Port infrastructure and logistics are active, including controlled access, a 1.2 km shuttle to a reception area, and 24-hour official COP transport reaching the Blue Zone in about 30 minutes.
