Two CPI (Maoist) Central Committee Leaders Killed in Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmad

Police call the leadership losses a major setback to Maoist command structures.

Overview

  • Police identified the deceased as Raju Dada (Katta Ramachandra Reddy), 63, and Kosa Dada (Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy), 67, both Central Committee members carrying Rs 40 lakh rewards in Chhattisgarh.
  • An intelligence-led search by the District Reserve Guard and Border Security Force near the Maharashtra border triggered a prolonged firefight in the Abujhmad forests around Farasbeda and Toymeta.
  • Forces recovered an AK-47, an INSAS rifle, a barrel grenade launcher, a large cache of explosives, Maoist literature, and other materials from the site.
  • Police attribute involvement in 129 killings to the pair and say their combined rewards across states totaled about Rs 3.6 crore, noting both hailed from Karimnagar, Telangana, and were active for over three decades.
  • Officials say the deaths further weaken the outfit’s hierarchy, with this year’s Naxal fatalities in Chhattisgarh rising to roughly 248–249 as combing operations continue.
