The Astrakhan collision occurred at 18:05 MSK at the 332nd kilometer of the Volgograd–Astrakhan highway and involved a Chevrolet Aveo and a Lada Granta.
Two boys born in 2025 were killed, according to the regional Interior Ministry representative.
Both drivers and several passengers were hospitalized, including an Aveo passenger born in 2004 and Lada passengers born in 2005 and 1999.
Police said initial information indicates the Aveo moved into the oncoming lane, with the findings subject to further investigation.
In Salavat, Bashkortostan, a PAZ bus left the roadway and struck a tree on Zelenaya Street, injuring the driver and two passengers out of ten aboard, the regional emergency service reported.
