Two Charged With Luke Harden’s Murder in Bacup

Police are still seeking witnesses with the cause of death yet to be established.

  • Bhekisani Matabiswana, 26, and Natalie Chadwick, 27, both from Bacup, have been charged with murder and are due at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 5 November.
  • Police on patrol found paramedics giving CPR to 37-year-old Luke Harden on Newchurch Road at about 12:35am on Saturday, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • A Home Office post-mortem conducted on Sunday returned an unascertained cause of death pending further forensic tests.
  • Detectives are appealing for dashcam or doorbell footage from 11:45pm to 12:35am and for patrons of the Rosemount Working Men’s Club on Friday night to come forward.
  • Harden’s family issued a public tribute expressing their devastation, and Lancashire Police say relatives are being supported by specialist officers.
