Two Charged in 2016 New Jersey Home Invasion Killing After DNA Breakthrough

Prosecutors plan to present the case to a Burlington County grand jury for possible indictment.

Overview

  • Kevin D’Costa, 45, of Irvington, and Daemen Hodge, 32, of Browns Mills, were charged with first-degree felony murder, first-degree robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and related offenses.
  • Advanced testing detected DNA from both men and victim Norman Mosley on a glove recovered at the 2016 scene, which prosecutors said strengthened other evidence.
  • D’Costa was served with a homicide warrant at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, where he was held on unrelated charges.
  • Hodge was arrested Friday at a residence in Bordentown Township and booked into the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly.
  • Mosley, 37, was shot twice by masked intruders at his Browns Mills home on Sept. 25, 2016, and investigators cited years of follow-up, family support, and assistance from state forensic labs and the U.S. Marshals Service.
