Overview
- Plymouth police were alerted around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday to a reported "kidnapping of a federal agent," which began in Plymouth and ended at the New Hope Police Department.
- The HSI agent was secured at New Hope City Center as a man fled on foot and was detained, while a woman in the vehicle allegedly refused to exit but spoke with officers.
- Federal prosecutors filed assault charges against Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye, 24, and Rekeya Lionesha Lee Frazier, 23, in connection with the confrontation.
- A federal complaint says agents were surveilling a Plymouth apartment complex for Bamigboye over an alleged student visa overstay, the agent feared abduction during a struggle in a Jeep, and pursuing agents inadvertently struck the vehicle.
- Plymouth police said they were not notified of the federal operation and do not engage in immigration enforcement, and ICE has recently reported multiple arrests in the area under Operation Metro Surge.
