Two Brutal Murders Shock Small Nebraska Town

Residents of Fort Calhoun Question Community Safety Following Arrests of Two Men in Separate Homicides

Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, a small town of 1,100 residents, is reeling from two brutal murders that have occurred within the last four months.
Linda Childers, 71, was killed in her home on August 13, and Rev. Stephen Gutgsell, 65, was fatally stabbed during a break-in at his church's rectory on December 10.
William Collins, 30, and Kierre Williams, 43, have been arrested in connection with the murders, respectively, and both face murder, burglary, and weapons charges.
Residents of Fort Calhoun, which had not previously experienced any homicides, are now questioning the safety of their community.
Despite the recent violence, local authorities maintain that Fort Calhoun is a safe community and that these incidents are out of character for the town.
