Overview
- Durham Constabulary was called at 8:25pm on Sunday to a farm off the B6310 near Burnopfield after reports that a tractor had overturned.
- A 14-year-old was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary with life-threatening injuries and a 13-year-old suffered serious injuries, with both remaining in hospital on Monday.
- Officers were first to arrive and delivered lifesaving first aid to the teenagers before they were transported to hospital.
- While officers were taking a statement after the crash, all four tyres of a parked police vehicle were slashed, which took the car and officer off duty and delayed aspects of the investigation.
