Overview
- Two human remains were found within 24 hours in and near the Dominguez Channel, with a body first reported by a golf-course patron on Tuesday and a second recovered on Wednesday.
- The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the first recovery as the badly decomposed remains of a female child estimated to be 6 to 13 years old and provided physical descriptors.
- The second body, found Wednesday in an industrial stretch of the channel near the 2000–2100 block of East Sepulveda Boulevard, was determined to be an adult man and was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is handling both investigations, with autopsies and forensic work pending and officials saying there is no evidence so far linking the two cases.
- The Dominguez Channel runs through mixed recreational and industrial areas, which can complicate recovery and evidence preservation, and officials have scheduled a public briefing and urged anyone with information to contact LASD Homicide or Crime Stoppers.
