Two Bihar Labourers Drown in Nagpur Farm Pond, Third Missing

Police say the youths misjudged the pond’s depth while bathing and authorities have recovered two bodies with a search for the third ongoing.

Police reported that the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at a farm pond on the premises of Mohanlal Shankarlal Agarwal Agro Pvt Ltd on the Ramtek–Mauda Highway near Nagpur.
The three workers were migrant labourers from Purnia and Khagaria in Bihar, aged about 18 to 20, employed at a rice mill on the agro park site.
Authorities say the men went to bathe after their shift, apparently misjudged the pond’s depth and lacked swimming skills, which led to the drownings.
Local fishermen helped police recover two bodies and a search operation was under way to find the third missing youth at the time of the reports.
Local reporting notes about 50 to 60 labourers were brought to the site by a contractor and police have registered an accidental death case and opened an investigation.
