Overview

• Saturday’s shooting occurred at about 7:15 p.m. near Filhurst Avenue and Los Angeles Street in Baldwin Park, just east of Los Angeles.
• One officer was airlifted to a nearby hospital by helicopter and the other was transported by ambulance, fire officials said.
• Dozens of officers, including SWAT teams with armored vehicles, were deployed to secure the neighborhood after shots were fired.
• Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies joined Baldwin Park police in investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
• Authorities have not explained why the officers were in that location when they were wounded.
