Two Athletes Die at World Triathlon Championships in Spain

A British and a Mexican competitor suffered fatal heart attacks during the veteran category event in Torremolinos.

Mark John, a 57-year-old British veteran, collapsed during the running portion of the triathlon.
Roger Mas, a 79-year-old Mexican athlete, experienced a heart attack during the swimming segment.
The World Triathlon expressed deep condolences to the families and communities of the deceased athletes.
Over 5,500 athletes from more than 80 countries are participating in the event, which runs from October 17 to 20.
Both athletes were competing in the age-group sprint category, which includes a swim, cycle, and run.
