Overview

• Gunmen ambushed a 33 Assam Rifles convoy around 5:45–6:00 pm at Nambol Sabal Leikai on NH-2 between Imphal and Bishnupur.
• The fallen were identified as Naib-Subedar Shyam Gurung and Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap, and five injured personnel were evacuated to RIMS in Imphal where they are stable.
• Security forces cordoned the area, recovered fired cartridges, and sent reinforcements to conduct combing operations.
• Police and defence sources have indicated suspicion of the valley-based PLA, though no group has claimed the attack and the attribution remains unconfirmed.
