Two Arrested in Gurugram Club Shooting After Rejected Marriage Proposal

Police tracked the suspects to Uttar Pradesh after they fled Gurugram, with the pistol used in the attack still unrecovered.

Overview

  • The 25-year-old victim, Kalpana, was shot in the abdomen at a club on MG Road in the early hours of December 20 and underwent surgery at a private hospital.
  • Tushar alias Jonty, 25, and Shubham alias Johnny, 24, both from Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, were arrested on December 25 in Baraut, Baghpat, in a joint operation by the Sector 40 Crime Branch and the MG Road police post.
  • An FIR for attempt to murder and Arms Act offences was registered at DLF Sector 29 on a complaint filed by the victim’s husband, as doctors initially declared her unfit to give a statement.
  • Police say Tushar had pressured the woman to marry him for about six months and allegedly opened fire after she refused again, with investigators also citing a prior incident of shots fired at her home a month earlier.
  • Authorities plan to seek police custody remand for further interrogation, and efforts to recover the firearm and collect additional evidence are underway.
