Overview

  • Two men aged 31 and 40 were detained on July 28 in Rimini following a months-long probe by Bologna’s Squadra Mobile into a May burglary scam
  • The suspects donned a vest labeled “Carabinieri” and claimed a recent home invasion to persuade an elderly woman to open her two-story residence
  • They emptied the victim’s in-home safe of valuables estimated at around €1 million before fleeing on a high–displacement motorcycle with forged plates
  • Investigators linked the duo to large motorhomes registered in Italy and France that served as mobile bases for transporting motorcycles and scouting targets
  • Police recovered burglary tools, suspected illicit valuables, cash and a stolen motorcycle during searches and continue efforts to locate the missing assets
