Overview

• Glendale police identified Armean Shirehjini as the suspected thief and Andranik Avetisyan as the alleged getaway driver using surveillance video.
• The gift box holding about $60,000 in cash and dozens of checks was taken from the Renaissance Banquet Hall just before 1 a.m. on Aug. 31.
• Detectives arrested both men at Shirehjini’s Sherman Oaks residence after a weeklong review of footage and other leads.
• Shirehjini was found with a handgun at the time of his arrest, and searches of both homes recovered cash, checks, several firearms and various narcotics.
