Overview
- On June 14, a black SUV barreled into a group of No Kings protesters on University Avenue in downtown Riverside, critically injuring 21-year-old Alexa Carrasco before fleeing the scene.
- Emergency crews found Carrasco with a cracked rib, punctured lung, severe skull fractures and a broken leg and transported her to intensive care in critical but stable condition.
- Police traced the vehicle’s license plate and arrested 58-year-old Russell Prentice on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run causing injury.
- Thirty-nine-year-old Candase Wenzel was taken into custody on charges of accessory after the fact and destruction of evidence for hiding and tampering with the SUV.
