A man posing as a plainclothes officer visited a 97-year-old in Breda, claimed to be doing a neighborhood inquiry, and took hundreds of euros under the pretense of photographing the money. After the visitor left, the woman called the real police, whose report matched an earlier stop of a suspicious car seen driving in circles on her street. Officers checked the license plate, spotted the vehicle, and followed it to Amsterdam, where they detained a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old from the city. The stolen cash was recovered and will be returned to the victim, and the two suspects are being questioned as the investigation continues. Authorities warn that such impersonation scams frequently target older residents and urge people to report suspicious calls or visits immediately.
