Two Airboats Collide in Florida Everglades, Injuring 16 People

The crash occurred near Ochopee on Friday afternoon, with 33 passengers aboard the boats; an investigation is underway.

The collision happened at Wooten’s Everglades Airboat Tours, located about 75 miles west of Miami, around 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
A total of 33 people were aboard the two airboats—one carrying 20 passengers and the other carrying 13—when the crash occurred.
Sixteen people were hospitalized following the crash, though details on the severity of their injuries have not been disclosed.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is leading the investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
Wooten’s Everglades Airboat Tours, the operator of the boats, has not yet commented on the collision.
