Two £1m Winners Named in September Premium Bonds Draw

A higher prize fund with improved per-£1 odds increases payouts, shifting expected returns for holders.

Overview

  • NS&I revealed that the September 2026 draw produced two £1 million winners, one based in Norwich (bond 484QT130447) and one in London (bond 659VC982054).
  • The draw will pay out more than 6.5 million tax-free prizes worth about £497,086,175 and had over 137 billion eligible £1 bonds entered.
  • For September NS&I changed the rules to improve the odds per £1 from 22,000-to-1 to 21,000-to-1 and raised the prize-fund rate to 4.35%, which increases the total money available to winners.
  • Local reporting shows the change has visible effects on communities: Norfolk winners shared about £2.2 million including the Norwich £1m winner, Suffolk winners shared £1,197,000, and counties such as Cumbria and BCP recorded multiple five- and six-figure prizes.
  • NS&I uses ERNIE, described as powered by quantum technology, to select winners, the scheme is backed by HM Treasury, and holders are urged to check results via the NS&I prize-checker app, website or Alexa from the second working day of the month.
