Overview

• Toronto police said the teens were arrested and each charged with second-degree murder in the Aug. 21 shooting of 19-year-old Daniel Amalathas at Scarborough Town Centre.
• Officers found Amalathas fatally shot in a public washroom just before 2 p.m., and a firearm was recovered at the scene.
• Because the accused are 17, their identities cannot be published under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
• The boys were scheduled to appear Friday morning at the Ontario Court of Justice on Armoury Street in Toronto.
• Family members described Amalathas as a hardworking Ontario Tech University student who also held a part-time job, and police continue to ask anyone with information to come forward.
