Overview
- Twitch announced a new “Training for Generative AI” setting on Wednesday that lets channel owners stop their content from being used in future training of Amazon generative models.
- The toggle appears under Security & Privacy and is turned on by default, so users must proactively switch it off to opt out.
- Opting out stops future use of your streams, VODs, clips, stream chats, and pictures or text for Amazon model training but does not remove past usage or block other AI features such as captions, AutoMod, recommendations, or sponsorship tools.
- Chat data inclusion depends on the channel owner’s setting, meaning messages you send in another streamer’s chat may be included or excluded based on that streamer’s choice.
- The change follows earlier disclosures that Twitch material was used in 2024 prototyping for Amazon models, Twitch posted the update on X, and reporters found limited direct comment from Twitch or Amazon and a bounced press email.
