Overview

  • The Twins placed right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Aug. 1 after he developed a stomach issue.
  • Darren McCaughan was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to add length to a depleted staff, having logged 5⅓ MLB innings this season and 72⅓ Triple-A frames with a 5.35 ERA.
  • No additional roster moves were required to accommodate the recall since Minnesota’s 40-man roster sat at 37 players following last week’s bullpen trades.
  • The promotion continues a season-long pattern of relying on veteran minor-leaguers to plug gaps created by shoulder strains, illnesses and deadline departures.
  • Manager Rocco Baldelli has signaled that McCaughan could work multiple innings behind opener Travis Adams as the rotation and bullpen roles remain fluid.
