Twins Release Derek Bender for Tipping Pitches to Opponents

Derek Bender, a 2024 sixth-round draft pick, was released by the Minnesota Twins for tipping pitches to opposing hitters.
The incident occurred during a Sept. 6 game where Bender informed Lakeland Flying Tigers batters about the pitches from Fort Myers' starter Ross Dunn.
Lakeland's 6-0 victory in that game clinched their division title and ended Fort Myers' playoff hopes.
Bender reportedly told teammates he wanted the season to end and spent the final two games in the bullpen.
Despite his release, Bender will retain his $297,500 signing bonus from the Twins.
