Overview

  • The 28-year-old runner secured gold in the 4x400m women’s relay, silver in the 800m, and bronze in the mixed 4x400m relay at the Uttarakhand National Games earlier this year.
  • The AIU confirmed her positive test for the banned anabolic steroid Methyltestosterone, making Chaudhary the second Indian athlete this summer to face a doping suspension after quarter-miler Sneha Kolleri tested positive for Stanazolol.
  • Chaudhary set an 800m meet record of 2:00.71 at the National Federation Senior Athletics Championships in Kochi and earned silver at the Taiwan Open in June.
  • In 2023, India recorded the worst adverse findings rate of 3.8% among countries conducting over 5,000 tests, with its 214 positive cases accounting for more than 11% of global doping violations.
  • The Sports Ministry has vowed to intensify anti-doping efforts through awareness campaigns and plans to table an amended National Anti-Doping Act in Parliament to strengthen governance.
