Overview
- TVS Motor Company formally launched the TVS Apache Junior Programme and handed over 10 purpose-built Apache RR 200 Mini motorcycles to the Madras Motor Sports Club for use at the Madras International Karting Arena, with reports dated July 27–28 confirming the start.
- TVS says the Mini GP bike is a race-tuned 197.75 cc machine that the company claims produces 23 PS, reaches about 110 km/h, has a 690 mm seat height and weighs roughly 90 kg, though those performance figures are company claims and not independently verified.
- Training will be run by TVS Racing instructors and champions in a controlled circuit environment with a strong emphasis on rider safety, dedicated riding gear and lessons in braking, cornering, lines and bike control.
- The programme makes minibikes available on rent so families need not buy a dedicated race machine, and TVS has defined a clear progression from the junior course into the TVS One Make Championship Rookie category at 15, then the RR 310 Expert class and further development pathways.
- TVS frames the initiative as an expansion of four decades of TVS Racing work and the Apache brand’s 20th anniversary, and it is intended to lower cost barriers, expand the talent pipeline in Indian motorcycle racing and prepare riders for FMSCI-regulated competition.
