Turquoise Alert Issued for Missing 8-Year-Old Maleeka “Mollie” Boone on Navajo Nation

The DPS alert uses a system created after Emily Pike’s death to focus searches for missing Indigenous people.

Overview

  • Boone was last seen Thursday between 4 and 6 p.m. near Cedar Loop in the Coalmine NHA housing area about 17 miles southeast of Tuba City.
  • Authorities describe her as a Native American girl about 4 feet 5 inches tall and 50 pounds with brown eyes and long brown hair in French braids.
  • She is believed to be wearing a red jacket, blue jeans, and cowboy boots.
  • Anyone with information is urged to contact the Navajo Police Department at 928-283-3111 or call 911.
  • A Turquoise Alert differs from an Amber Alert by addressing cases with unknown circumstances and can apply to people from childhood up to age 65, according to DPS.
