Overview
- Turkish Airlines placed a firm order for 50 Boeing 787s (35 787-9 and 15 787-10) with options for 25 more, and deliveries scheduled from 2029 to 2034.
- The carrier announced an intent to acquire up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft (100 firm, 50 options), to proceed once negotiations with engine supplier CFM International conclude.
- Engine procurement for the new 787s is still being negotiated with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace, covering powerplants, spares and maintenance services.
- The announcements came a day after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met President Donald Trump, and Boeing says the combined deals would support U.S. jobs and effectively double Turkish Airlines’ Boeing fleet.
- Separately, Norwegian exercised options for 30 additional 737-8s, taking its MAX backlog to 80 and pushing final deliveries to 2031.
